Four PCB students successfully defended this past November and December - Congratulations to Dr. Alex Ayoub (Dou/Mapp Labs), Dr. Olivia Pattelli (Mapp Lab), Dr. Alex Rizo (Southworth/Mapp Labs), and Dr. Rosa Vasquez (Sherman Lab)!
LSI Academic Programs is pleased to welcome two new employees.
Olivia Bassett-Kennedy is joining the LSI Human Resources and the Academic Programs team. Olivia's effort will be split 50/50 between the LSI Human Resources team and the Academic Program team. Her LSI Human Resources job duties include managing hiring and time report approval processes for all temporary employees, all MOU's for individuals (non-students, students working for credit, student volunteers) performing research in LSI labs, immigration/appointment process for visiting scholars, LSI lactation room, and serving as a receptionist for the LSI. For the Academic Program team, Olivia will work closely with Laura Howe and the Program in Chemical Biology (PCB) on processing appointments including temporary employees, adjunct lecturer, GSRA and fellowships and helping with the Academic Programs application processes for Perrigo, Aspirnaut and Michigan Life Sciences Fellows (MLSF). She will also be assisting with event planning for the PCB program. Prior to joining the LSI, Olivia served in a faculty support role at the School of Nursing and also worked in Patient Services at Michigan Medicine.
Cameron Yaxley is also joining the LSI Academic Programs team as a Student Administrative Assistant. He will be working with our team on several of our programs including the Perrigo fellowship program, the MLSF program, the Aspirnaut program as well as managing the degree and admissions processes in the Program in Chemical Biology. He will also serve as a lead on many of our academic programs events including our Chemical Biology PhD interview weekend. Before joining the LSI, Cameron was a curriculum support coordinator at the Ross Business School.
Rising second year Chemical Biology PhD student, Ayza Croskey (Mapp Lab), has been awarded a Chemistry Biology Interface Training Program (CBITP) Fellowship. Congratulations!
Congratulations to Andrea Valenzuela, rising second year Ph.D. student in the Chandrasekaran/Boyle Labs, who was recently awarded a Cellular Biotechnology Training Program (CBTP) Fellowship for 2021!
